Privacy Policy
Boring Calories is made by Eduardo Stuart, based in the Netherlands ("we"). This policy explains what happens to information in the app and on this website.
- There is no account and no sign-up.
- We never receive your meals, photos or health information.
- Estimates are made on your iPhone. The cloud is used only if you turn it on.
- No ads, no tracking, no third-party analytics.
What stays on your iPhone
The meals you log, their estimates, your daily budget, the profile you enter (such as height, weight, age and activity level) and your settings are stored by the app on your device. We have no copy. Your device backups include them according to your own backup settings.
Deleting the app deletes this data from your device.
Photos and descriptions
A photo you take in the app is used only to make an estimate. It is kept until you add the meal or cancel, then deleted. The app does not save photos to your photo library.
A description you type or say is used the same way: only to make the estimate.
AI processing
By default, estimates are made by Apple Intelligence on your iPhone and nothing leaves the device.
If you turn on Private Cloud Compute, a photo or description can be sent to Apple's Private Cloud Compute to make a better estimate. Apple states that this data is used only for your request and is not stored or made accessible to Apple. We never receive it. You can turn this off at any time.
Diagnostics
If you allow sharing with app developers in iOS Settings, Apple sends us crash reports and usage statistics. They do not contain your meals, photos or health information. You can change this in Settings, Privacy and Security, Analytics and Improvements.
This website and email
This website uses no cookies and no analytics. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, based on our legitimate interest in running it securely.
If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and delete them when they are no longer needed.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, or object to its use. Because app data stays on your device, you control it there. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the authority where you live.
Boring Calories is for adults 18 and older and is not directed at children.
